Cheers! NIIT Technologies Sponsors Cocktail Reception at SITA

NIIT

Presence at the SITA Air Transport IT Summit meant much more than simply exhibiting this year for NIIT, as we extended our support of the event by sponsoring the Cocktail Reception held at the nearby ‘Chateau du Lac’ in Genval, Brussels.

Over the years, this two day event has grown in importance and has become a major event for the airlines industry, with over 200 delegates attending comprising of speakers, executives from the airline industry, members of industry bodies, SITA partners, and technology leaders.

With the theme of “Air Transport 2010 – delivering industry transformation through IT” the location, the prestigious Dolce La Hulpe, positioned in the heart of the Sonian Forest (set in 178 acres of green woodland), set a fabulous scene for the event.

The evening cocktail reception held at the chateau comprised of an iBar (a system of integrated video-projectors projecting the NIIT Technologies logo onto the bar-surface), and the bar staff (runners up in the TV show Britain’s Got Talent 2007) provided entertainment in ‘flaring’ the ‘NIIT Special’ cocktail – a blue alcoholic cocktail beverage. Propping up the bar has seriously, never been so fun!

The event itself gave NIIT Technologies the opportunity to meet with peers and representatives of industry bodies to discuss pressing issues and support business strategies. Prestigious industry speakers were present; Paul Coby, CIO of British Airways opened the event and welcomed delegates. Keynote speaker Giovanni Bisignani, Director General and CEO of IATA provided the crucial address “Air Transport 2010 - an agenda of change”, and Francesco Violante, CEO, SITA gave an insight into the IT Trends.

The Air Transport IT Summit considered how IT could help the airline business, by not only addressing the cost, but also transforming the way airlines work and how customers are serviced. The global economic conditions coupled with rising fuel costs, credit crunch, falling passenger numbers and security concerns, means there is an even greater need for airlines to interact with Technology companies like NIIT Technologies to make use of IT to innovatively support the necessary changes required to move their businesses forward.
