When NIIT Technologies came by two corporate hospitality tickets to The Ashes – England V Australia at Lord’s Cricket Ground, it was difficult to know which discerning member of staff to give them to. So we did it the fair, honest and decent thing – we raffled them off at £10 a raffle ticket!

There were many takers who took their chance and gambled their hard earned cash for the chance to win this once in a lifetime experience, as all match tickets were completely sold out.

The day promised an unbeatable opportunity for any cricket fan to obtain the unattainable; speeches from celebrity speakers, breakfast, champagne reception, three course lunch, complimentary bar throughout the day, afternoon tea, and official event documentation including match programme were all included in the prize.

£250 was raised by the staff, with NIIT Technologies Limited kindly matching that amount. The proceeds went to Cancer Research UK who was absolutely thrilled to receive a cheque for £500!

Upon receiving the cheque, Carole Ibbotson, Area Volunteer Manager announced “On behalf of Cancer Research UK, I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful donation. I am honoured to have such a wonderful job; meeting representatives of companies like NIIT, who go out of their way to raise money for our very important charity. Without these donations, we could not continue with our groundbreaking work, which to date, has saved millions of lives – so a big thank you to all who bought raffle tickets”.

The winner of the tickets was David Fuber.
